Dr.Ir Marcien NDAGIJIMANA is a researcher and consultant providing his services to different local and international organizations. He was a research assistant at the ‘’Centre d’Etudes Universitaires et Recherche-Développement en AgroEconomie-CERDA’’ of the University of Burundi, then Researcher and Evaluation Officer at UNICEF, Researcher at the University of Wageningen and at IFDC. He has conducted numerous consultancy missions for different organizations such as WFP, IFAD, ITU, etc.

Dr.Ir Marcien NDAGIJIMANABiography

Dr.Ir Marcien NDAGIJIMANA is a researcher and consultant providing his services to different local and international organizations. He was a research assistant at the ‘’Centre d’Etudes Universitaires et Recherche-Développement en AgroEconomie-CERDA’’ of the University of Burundi, then Researcher and Evaluation Officer at UNICEF, Researcher at the University of Wageningen and at IFDC. He has conducted numerous consultancy missions for different organizations such as WFP, IFAD, ITU, etc.

He holds a PhD in Agricultural and Environmental Sciences from Wageningen University in the Netherlands, and a post-graduate degree in Rural Economics and Sociology from the University of Liège (jointly with the Catholic University of Louvain), both in Belgium. He focused his research on risk management and climate change in agriculture by exploring index insurance as a means of adaptation to climate change and on the privatization of the coffee sector in Burundi. He has implemented innovative programs in the field of disaster risk management such as the ECHO-funded project on climate prediction-based financing, the pilot project on integrating agricultural insurance as a means of adaptation to climate change funded by IFDC through the Burundi Agricultural Productivity Support Project (PAPAB) and Wageningen University.

He is currently a lecturer at Université Lumière de Bujumbura, where he teaches courses on environmental impact and project team management.

His areas of expertise include research, project management, agricultural market analysis, agricultural value chain analysis, cash transfer interventions, monitoring and evaluation, food security analysis, social protection and climate change adaptation/agricultural insurance.
